The Trilobite is a creature created from the Black Liquid of the Engineers. It is considered a prototype version of the facehugger and is much larger and stronger. The Trilobite has multiple tentacles and smaller retractable tendrils that can immobilize its victims while forcefully implanting an embryo into their bodies. This embryo develops into the Deacon, a Xenomorph-like creature. The Trilobite was accidentally created when Dr. Holloway ingested the Black Liquid, which then spread through his system. Unaware of the changes happening in his body, he had intercourse with Dr. Shaw, transmitting the altered DNA to her. She became pregnant but had the rapidly growing alien surgically removed. Surprisingly, the creature survived and grew into a massive tentacled aberration similar to a facehugger. It impregnated an Engineer, resulting in the birth of the Deacon. The Trilobite’s ability to grow suggests it consumed food, although its diet remains unknown.
