Escalating tensions between the US and Iran are raising fears of conflict in the Middle East. Iran has said it would avenge the killing of its top commander, Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a US airstrike in Baghdad. Iranians have taken to the streets to mourn the killing of the head of Iran's elite Quds Force. US President Donald Trump had ordered the operation that also killed top Iraqi militia leader, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who was an advisor to Soleimani. The US state department has urged American citizens to leave Iraq immediately.
