Industronaut is a survival engineering game focused on base building, automation and resource management on a hostile radiation-soaked planet. With no rescue coming and no outside support, your survival depends entirely on your ability to build infrastructure, manage resources and make the most of the drones at your disposal. In this Steam Next Fest demo we’re getting our first look at the game’s core systems and seeing how everything fits together.
First impressions are very positive. The grounded sci-fi setting feels refreshing, the tutorial does an excellent job introducing the mechanics and there’s a surprisingly cosy atmosphere despite the harsh environment. Building out your base, managing production and expanding your operations feels rewarding from the start. I’d love to see more detailed information available to the player, particularly around power production and consumption, drone assignments and long-term progression systems such as a technology tree, but the foundations here are already very solid. Definitely one to keep an eye on if you’re a fan of automation and engineering-focused survival games.
