This nuke giveaway was announced on a pre-recorded program, a significant detail, now that some people are suggesting Lukashenko may be on his deathbed. This is pure speculation, yet what is absolutely clear is that the dictator’s latest decision to let Russian nukes into his country is a severe blow to the people of Belarus – more so than to the country’s neighbors, who have already grown used to nuclear sabre-rattling on the part of Vladimir Putin. Is there an exit route for Belarus, trapped in a toxic relationship with Moscow, saddled with Russian tactical nukes, and filled with disquiet among citizens as the number of political prisoners continues to rise?
