Desmond Doss Saved 75 Men in WW2 – The Real Hacksaw Ridge Soldier Who Saved 75 Souls
Desmond Doss was a real-life soldier who served during World War II and is best known for his role in the Battle of Okinawa, where he saved 75 of his fellow soldiers while serving as a medic. Despite being a conscientious objector and refusing to carry a weapon, Doss risked his own life to rescue and treat wounded soldiers on the front lines.
His heroism and selflessness earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow soldiers, and he was later awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his actions. Doss’s story was depicted in the 2016 film “Hacksaw Ridge,” directed by Mel Gibson and starring Andrew Garfield as Doss.
