HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal 1-0 Leeds United | Emirates FA Cup

A stirring second-half display and a scruffy finish from Reiss Nelson saw us edge past Leeds in the Emirates FA Cup.

The Championship side had the upper hand before the break and were inches away from taking the lead when Patrick Bamford’s shot hit the crossbar.

That was one of a number of presentable chances that Leeds’ squandered, while Emi Martinez did brilliantly to claw away an effort from Ezgjan Alioski.

We needed to regroup at half-time and we did, emerging with a determination that was not so evident in the first half.

It showed in our football. Suddenly it was Leeds on the back foot and, after Alex Lacazette struck the bar with a free-kick, Nelson got the all-important opener.

Nicolas Pepe set Lacazette through on the right and his low cross deflected into Nelson’s path. The contact he made with the ball was minimal, but a vital ricochet took it into the net.

Sokratis, Lacazette and Gabriel Martinelli went close to a second, while Leeds were a shadow of their first-half selves.

The opposite was true of us – and a fourth-round trip to Bournemouth is our reward.
