Ghana's VP Bawumia concedes defeat in presidential election

Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party candidate, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, on Sunday conceded defeat in Saturday’s presidential election.

“The data from our own internal collation of the election results indicate that former president, his excellency John Dramani Mahama, has won the presidential election decisively,” he said during a press conference in Accra, after a tight presidential race and parliamentary polls.

Bawumia promised that his party would facilitate “a very smooth transition.”
