Vets and Doctors are being praised after the Fort Worth Zoo in Texas announced the birth of a premature western lowland gorilla.
The zoo said the intervention came after the mother showed signs of preeclampsia.
Western lowland gorillas are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation.
Fort Worth Zoo made the announcement of the premature female gorilla.
The zoo posted on X: “We have affectionately named the female baby Jameela, which means ‘beautiful’ in Swahili, but it holds an extra special meaning as it is also a nod to the wonderful Dr. Jamie Erwin.”
