Deontay Wilder BREAKS HIS SILENCE About Retiring…

Deontay Wilder is one of the best heavyweights to have stepped into the boxing ring. Though, his bouts with the Gypsy King have not gone the way he or his fan had expected. After he lost his third fight against Tyson Fury, he was considering hanging the gloves up. What’s the man thinking now? Let’s learn a little about the Bronze Bomber in this video.

Deontay Wilder held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020, during his reign he made 10 successful defenses. By winning the title, Wilder became the first American world heavyweight champion since 2007 when he put an end to which was the longest period of time in boxing history without an American heavyweight champion. Wilder had a late start to boxing, the man took up the sport at 20 years of age. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division at the 2008 Olympics. This led to his nickname of “The Bronze Bomber”, which Wilder coined after Joe Louis, who was known by the nickname of “The Brown Bomber”.

The Bronze Bomber won his first title in professional boxing when he knocked out 37-year-old Kelvin Price at the Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles in December 2012. Wilder fought patiently through the first two rounds and mostly dominated Price. The fight ended when the atomic right hand of Wilder caught Price on the jaw and sent him back into the ropes and down he went. He attempted to get to his feet but was not really able to get to his senses which led referee Ray Corona to wave an end to the bout. Wilder claimed the vacant WBC Continental Americas heavyweight title. The title that he successfully defended twice.

Wilder has been known for his exceptional punching power ever since he made his way to the ring, he has knocked out every opponent he has defeated. His knockout-to-win percentage stands at 97.61% with 20 knockouts in the first round. He is a three-time winner of the Premier Boxing Champions Knockout of the Year award (2016, 2017, 2019) and a winner of the Ring magazine Knockout of the Year award (2019). Then man has had a lot to his name before he locked horns with the Gypsy king. He had a very successful career already and it would not be wrong to say that he was feared in the ring as he knocked out every opponent he ever faced before he got in the ring with the Gypsy king.

However, if we say that Deontay Wilder became more famous and his career became more interesting when he started locking horns with the Gypsy King, it would not be wrong. Their first fight, unfortunately, resulted in a draw which by the way was very disappointing for fans. Then in February 2020, the two again came against each in a match that was billed up as an unfinished business. The Bronze Bomber was at the time the world heavyweight champion and he was undefeated, both of the men were undefeated. However, Deontay Wilder ended up losing the big fight as he was knocked out in the 7th round.

Then came the all-big trilogy match, the big fight happened in October 2021. One of the most hyped matches in the history of boxing. The Bronze Bomber again ended up losing the fight to Tyson Fury. It was a hell of a fight but Deontay was done in the 11th round of the fight, being knocked out by the Gypsy King.

Losing to Tyson Fury yet again left the man disappointed and heartbroken. We saw some mixed statements from the man after his loss against Tyson Fury. Wilder insisted on fiancée Telli Swift’s podcast that ‘the best is yet to come’ from him in boxing despite back-to-back defeats against the Gypsy King. The fans were happy to know that the Bronze Bomber has not yet given up. But then came another statement by the man that left the fans thinking that they might have watched Deontay’s last fight already.
