βš”οΈ Desmond Doss Saved 75 Men Without a Weapon! πŸ™πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

In May 1945 on Okinawa, Private Desmond Doss, a Seventh-day Adventist, served as a medic in the 77th Infantry Division. He refused to carry a weapon due to his beliefs but wanted to aid on the front lines. During the assault on Hacksaw Ridge, the Japanese counterattacked, wounding many Americans. Doss stayed on the ridge, pulling wounded soldiers to safety one by one under fire. He lowered them down the escarpment with a rope, praying for each. Over the night, he saved 75 men despite bullets and grenades around him. His efforts delayed the enemy and allowed regrouping. Doss was wounded but survived, becoming the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor. His faith and courage inspired his comrades to persevere.
