2020/09/18: China's Journey to Ending Poverty: UN Sustainable Development Goals

Through challenges and difficulties in 75 years, the United Nations managed to work for peace and security, aiding members in need. Five years ago, the pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals began. The top goal is to end absolute poverty. Ten percent of the world population still lives in extreme poverty, struggling to meet the most basic needs like health, education, and access to potable water and sanitation. And this year, it’s a bigger struggle with COVID-19. China, with the largest population in the world, seeks to end extreme poverty by the end of 2020. In the past four decades, more than 850 million Chinese have topped the poverty threshold, contributing 70 percent to global poverty reduction efforts.
